Inspired from the hit show on HBO, “How to Make it in America” Season 2 - I decided to remix Theophilus London’s “I Stand Alone” which is this Seasons theme music for the show. I wanted to take the song in a different direction from where he went by expressing how I feel about being an artist in today’s music climate. My mom instilled in me to live a parallel life no matter what. Hard work pays off in every aspect and I’ve learned to appreciate the “grind”. This song is about that inner flame inside that stays lit throughout the dark times and dim moments that life may bring. Refusing to chase trends, he is mastering his craft to be more than just “the taste of the week” seen in most artists today. Marky is developing his legacy by building his brand, Winning Streak so he can return the favors given and empower up and coming youth to be better than the status quo. Marky is an artist to look out for and embrace as he is not introducing what’s hot now but rather a new voice to the world of hip hop that will not be forgotten.
